Dr. Scrantz is a board-certified neurosurgeon and native of South Louisiana. He received his undergraduate degree in microbiology from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, graduating magna cum laude. Dr. Scrantz earned his medical degree from LSU Health Sciences Center in New Orleans before completing his general surgery internship and neurosurgery residency at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Memphis. Dr. Scrantz continued his neurosurgical training by completing fellowships in minimally invasive and complex spinal surgery, as well as complex skull-base brain tumors. Dr. Scrantz is a highly respected instructor in these areas of neurosurgical specialization.
His special interests include laser, minimally invasive, and complex spinal surgery, skull base surgery, complex brain tumor surgery, pituitary surgery, carpal tunnel, ulnar nerve, and acoustic neuroma. He is also certified in Gamma Knife Radiosurgery.

Dr. Scrantz joined The NeuroMedical Center in 2006. He is a founding member of the Neuro Multidisciplinary Care (MDC) team at Mary Bird Perkins-OLOL Cancer Center and an Assistant Professor within the LSU Department of Otolaryngology for Skull-Based Surgery. He is an expert in skull-based brain tumors and works with collaborative LSU ENT physicians in the surgical management of these complex conditions.

Dr. Scrantz is the President and Chairman of the Board for The Neuromedical Center. He is also the Chief Medical Officer for the Spine Hospital of Louisiana.
He has more than 17 years of leadership experience in these roles.

Dr. Scrantz joined The NeuroMedical Center in 2006. He is a founding member of the Neuro Multidisciplinary Care (MDC) team at Mary Bird Perkins-OLOL Cancer Center and is actively involved in many professional organizations. He is also an Assistant Professor within the LSU Department of Otolarngology.
